Experience: Legal Secretary, McGrath McGrane Solicitors

Legal Secretary, McGrath McGrane Solicitors Dublin, Ireland, Summer 2003 Upon completing my Engineering degree, I considered returning to study in King’s Inn’s to become a barrister. Furthering this goal, I worked in a solicitors office to gain experience and insight into the profession.

I have always taken an interest in the legal system and as such considered Law as my primary degree. However Engineering is my true calling. Despite this, after I completed my engineering degree I considered returning to King's Inn's to complete the requisite courses and train to be a barrister. In order to ensure that this was a career path I wanted to follow I took a job in a solicitors office as a legal secretary. I worked with two solicitors in the office, taking case-notes, helping them prepare for cases, and researching the law surrounding cases.

Upon reflection, I chose not to pursue this career path. While the legal system will always have an interest for me, research, development, and learning how everything works is my vocation.
